BREEDING A CULTURE OF SUCCESS
Mater Dei College holds a strong reputation within the Footballing Community backed by the support of the West Perth Football Club and WestAustralian Football Commission. Our Program serves its players, as a Talent Pathway in progressing to elite football, with the potential to achieve WAFL/AFL selection.
The belief within the Mater Dei College Football Program, is that individuals must first develop the strength of character essential in emerging as leaders within their College community, and therefore, transforming them as leaders on the field. The Four Pillars of Mater Dei College, comprised of Faith, Learning, Community and Service sets the scaffolding upon which we operate to fulfil our goal of developing our students in to respectful well-rounded people. We believe that in order for students to be successful as players, they must be successful as students.
The Program works within the structure of a Specialised Physical Education (SPE) class, consisting of two Practical Lessons and one Theoretical lesson per week. With the goal of providing students with a holistic footballing education, players of the Program will also have the opportunity to achieve a Level 1 Certificate in Sports Training, Certificate I in Sport & Recreation, Level 1 Coaching Accreditation as well as a Level 1 Umpiring accreditation. The Program consists of a Year 9 class of each gender and a Year 10 girls class only with the intention to grow and involve other year levels in future years.
It is essential that all students who are selected, respect and value their position in the Program. Our selection process is stringently designed to ensure that only deserving students who meet all criteria gain selection in to the MDC Hawks Australian Rules Football Program. Students must continue to strive for the highest possible standard of performance in all areas of their College life and our system ensures that they are committed to this task.
