The Music Program

The Music Department at Mater Dei College is committed to offering a high quality music education with the support of our specialist peripatetic music tutors who offer 1:1 tuition on a variety of instruments, including vocals. We cater for those who have music experience and for those who are keen to learn an instrument for the first time.

These students will become part of the College Ensembles which currently include Flute Ensemble, Clarinet Ensemble, Concert Band, Choir and Rock Band. These are all free of charge and rehearse either at lunchtimes, before school or after school.

There are a variety of performance and competition opportunities throughout the year where students can showcase their skills and talents including, assemblies, concerts, Music Camp, the Catholic Performing Arts Festival and various community performances.

Students are also encouraged to complete graded music examinations through the AMEB or ABRSM examination boards. These qualifications can be credited towards their WACE as an Endorsed Program.

The College offers assistance to a limited number of Yr 7 students every year under the Band Development Assistance Scheme. Please see separate application form for more details.
