Year 11 and 12 Pathways

Students should choose the correct pathway for them based on a realistic view of what will deliver the greatest chance of success in line with;

• Enhancement and protection of a student's well-being.
• Skills and abilities
• Interests, passions and dislikes.
• Future aspirations
• Level of commitment required.
• Attainment of The Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE).

THE ATAR PATHWAY is for those students who are aiming for direct entry from Year 12 into a university education. Students can study up to 6 ATAR Courses, however at a minimum they must undertake at least 4. Students must meet all WACE requirements and achieve at least 50% in ATAR English. The final derived ATAR Score is derived from the top four courses after the final calculation of 50% the school based score, plus 50% of the final External examination score on the completion in Year 12. Entry to university is subject to individual University requirements.

THE ALTITUDE PATHWAY provides students with an alternative pathway to University without requiring an ATAR. Students can study between 0 to 3 ATAR courses and must successfully complete a Certificate ll or higher course. All Universities offer a variety of Alternative Entry Pathways which should be investigated according to the specialist field.

Edith Cowan College, Curtin and Murdoch Institutes also offer a direct pathway for students without an ATAR into their associated University. Entry can be at a Diploma level for 1st year students after which, successful completion, can lead to direct entry into the 2nd year of the affiliated degree.

THE GENERAL PATHWAY is a General course pathway for those students who aspire to enter the workforce, TAFE or are seeking an Apprenticeship.
