The science department welcomed Mr Ian Robson to our ranks this year as
a chemistry teacher. Other than this addition the usual stability of the
science department continued.
The science excellence program was extended this year to incorporate a
program run through Edith Cowan University which had the students attend
a weekly session run by science specialists from the university. The
student conference this year included presentations from other schools
which allowed our students to appreciate their own and others work.
The Sublime magazine continued this year and was very ably edited by
Joseph Rocca, Imogen Bowman and Sean McFarlane. Editions of this
publication are available on the College website.
Our chemistry students competed in two teams in the Titration Stakes and
acquitted themselves very well. A highly specialised skill is the focus
of the competition and the students were expertly prepared by Mrs Axon
and Mr Robson.
2008 saw the introduction of Marine and Maritime Technology course that
has proven to be extremely popular and ably run by Mr Raymond and Mr
Jones.
We look forward to the introduction courses of study in 2009 and the
ability to provide flexible choices to students within the science
subjects we offer.
