Vision of Mater Dei College

Mater Dei College believes in the dignity and the nurturing of the individual and seeks to follow, with courage, Mary’s example of faith.

Definition of Evangelisation

  EVANGELISATION

Evangelisation is everything we do that promotes, develops and gives witness to faith. The core business of Mater Dei College is to evangelise. In this respect it involves every aspect of the College and everyone who works at the College.

Evangelisation has three modes of operation:

WITNESS

Witness is the first act of evangelisation by which others sense and are attracted to the Christ-like presence and the Christ-like love experienced in a Christian community. Mater Dei aims to be a true Christian community following Mary's example as mother and first servant of the Lord.

PRIMARY PROCLAMATION

Primary Proclamation is the process which raises religious awareness, gives the initial revelation of Jesus and prepares the person to appreciate the promise of Christian Salvation. Mater Dei College community endeavours to ensure that all its members are made aware of the Good News of Christ.

CATECHESIS

Catechesis is the more formal imparting of the Christian message. It involves the processes of sharing experiences of God, passing on teachings of Jesus and integrating these into a person's life. Catechesis is used to give initial information about Jesus but is also needed on an ongoing basis. In this vein, the Mater Dei College community prays, imploring Mary to help them live the gospel values of Jesus and to follow her example of faith with courage.
