MATER DEI COLLEGE
Located 25 kilometres north of Perth, and serving the
north-eastern corridor of the Perth metropolitan area, the College offers an
outstanding campus. It is well resourced and the curriculum offerings
detailed on the following Pages, are presented in well equipped rooms by
enthusiastic teachers.
The College, as part of the Catholic Education sector,
will strongly emphasise those elements that promote the Church’s work and
mission
ENROLMENT POLICY
General Policy Guidelines
- Mater Dei College is committed to the nurturing
of the whole person. The education and development of young people and
in particular to their full human formation, is the focus of the
College.
The educational endeavours of Mater Dei College require a commitment on
the part of Parents, Students, Staff and Board of Management for the
objectives of the College to be maximised and realised for each
individual student.
- Parents are expected to be
supportive of the general aims and policies of the College and
to assist, where possible, in the attainment of the educational
objectives of these policies.

in those functions organised for the total College

of their children (eg. Year Meetings/Teacher Nights, Parents and Friends

to develop an understanding of their particular responsibilities
as they progress through the College. In signing the Statement

STUDENT MANAGEMENT POLICY
Our Student Management Policy reflects the belief that
individuals have been created by God. Consequently emphasis is placed upon
the individual’s human dignity. It is in respect for this dignity that the
Code of Responsible Behaviour is based. This code is detailed in the Student
Planner
The Code of Responsible Behaviour is expressed as a
statement so that students and staff will be aware of the standard of
behaviour that is expected of students who attend Mater Dei College.
Our Student Management structure takes on a whole
school approach. Classroom teacher, Homeroom teacher, Year Coordinator,
Deputy Principals and Principal may be involved in any particular situation.
Sanctions may take various forms. Generally, parents will be contacted
directly for breaches of the Code of Responsibility.
Disregard for the Code of Responsible Behaviour or
breaches of College policies and practice may result in an After School
Detention, or In-House Suspension. If the breach is more serious, an Out of
School Suspension or Saturday morning detention may be applied
After school detention days are Tuesdays and
Thursdays.
In the extreme, when a situation becomes too untenable
for student and school alike then expulsion may be effected. Any such
measure would be carried out in a positive manner, with the offering of
guidance and any suitable referral.
Code of Responsible Behaviour – This is
detailed in the College Planner and is based on self-discipline and respect
for others.
Anti Bullying Policy – This policy has been
developed in response to a common problem in schools, and is detailed in the
College Planner.
COMMUNICATION
The College Administration strives to communicate well
with parents who in turn are encouraged to communicate to the College as
directly as possible any concerns about their children.
STUDENT PLANNER – An essential means of communication, this
should be sighted and signed once per week. It can be used to communicate
quickly in written form with Homeroom and/or subject teachers. It also
contains a diary of dates and a campus map.
TELEPHONE
Parents should feel free to telephone members of
Administration or teachers. If a person is not readily available, a return
call will be made subsequently.
NEWSLETTER "Dei to Dei"
This is issued weekly, usually on a Wednesday and
communicates College policies and practices, as well as news items. This may
be used by student and parent groups to communicate to the whole community.
It is also available on the College website.
